No Matter How Long

I watched you as you stumbled out of bed,
Rushed out the door, the coffee in your hand,

And you looked so lost and lonely,
I knew I had to find a way,

To help you understand,
I wanna be your friend.

So I painted a sunrise in the sky,
And I caused the birds to sing you lullabies,
And I whispered sweet " I Love You's"
In the breeze that brushed your face

You didn't even see,
You never noticed me.

No matter how long it takes, somehow I'll find a way.
No matter how far you run, there's no distance that's too great.

Cause when the wind blows through the tree tops,
And in the music of the rain,
Somehow my love will find a way,
No matter how long it takes.

I watched you as you fell asleep last night,
And I trembled as I watched the tears you cried.

So I splashed your face with moonlight,
And I longed for your embrace.
You never called my name,
I loved you just the same.

In the laughter of children,
I'll be calling out your name.
Somehow my love will find a way.
My love will find a way.
No matter how long it takes.

This is such a beautiful song by Phillip Craig Dean. Its called No matter how long it takes. I tried to find a video on youtube but obviously couldnt find it. So download it no matter how or what. Or just get it from me in MSN haha. It seems to be sung from God's point of view.
Looking down on us as we go about our daily lives, trying to fit everything we can into the 24 hour days he gave us.
Not once stopping to think about him, not once stopping to thank him for all we have.
Not enough time, always not enough time to get down on our knees and talk to him.
We have grown to take so many things for granted. The laughter of children, the breathtaking beauty of sunrise, the elegant gracefulness of moonlight, the morning breeze, the refreshing rain, the birds that sing sweet songs outside our window.
We forget what little miracles God placed in our lives, we overlook them because we are always in a hurry to get to somewhere, to finish something.
Maybe it's time to stop and literally smell the roses. Just to see how much effort God has put into this world.
Just to talk to him, and to thank him for everything.
Just to let him know that we love him as much as he does us.

And When Did You Last See Your Father?

I watched this about a week ago. Picked it off the shelf at blockbuster because it looked like an interesting film. It's based on a memoir written by Blake Morrisson about his love-hate relationship with his father.
He has to take care of his dying father and the movie is done with flashbacks that show how his relationshi pwith his father progresses. Its not a perfect relationship, in fact, his father comes off as quite an ass at some parts of the movie, but in his own way, he loves his son and is proud of him even though he doesn't show it that often.
This movie was beautifully filmed, an had quite an impact. Especially with the message it brought.
The ending was powerful, with the narrator asking:
And when did you last see your father?
When did you last see him without all that anger and bitterness and history of sad events?
When did you last see him and see nothing else but love?

Good stuff.

Infernal Affairs

I found this movie at BlockBuster the other day and decided to rent it. ( All the while hoping that it wouldnt be dubbed in English cause that's just a horrible thing to do and spoils everything) I'd heard a lot about this movie and how good it is, so I thought it was about time I gave it a try. Plus, Tony Leung is in this movie and you know a movie is worth watching when you get the superlicious Tony Leung-of-the-intense-eyes starring in it.
Boy was it worth it!
Such a superb movie! Great direction, great soundtrack and great acting!
Tony Leung was superb, Andy Lau was superb, Anthony Wong was superb... you get my drift.. Or do I have to use the words 'superb' and 'great' more?
I'm not surprised Martin Scorsese picked this movie to base his "The Departed' on. The ending was full of twists and unconventional ( I won't spoil it for you) and you get your share of poignant and sad scenes ( Which I love watching over and over and bawling my eyes out).
All in all, I can see why everyone wants to marry Tony Leung. Hahahahha!

Therapy for the soul

First of all, I don't know why my words are all in blue and there are lines under my sentences. I'm not exactly very technology-savvy so I'll just leave it and hope you guys don't mind. Heehee.

So ( Oh hey! The blue colour and lines are gone! Strange...) Anyway, as I was saying, when I'm stressed out, I usually go by a couple of rules.
I either the play my guitar, go to sleep, look for less-stressed people to hang out with, or just kick back and watch a movie. And when all else fails, I resort to the retail therapy: the best therapy for the soul.

So seeing as how I've been having a real crappy week. All the other rules failed. And I resorted to my last rule. Retail therapy. So after lunch with Elysia, I went off wandering in the city, looking for my de-stressors. For some reason, I thought it might be fun to get yet another piercing. So I got my 6th piercing. ( No, I did not get ALL those done in one day) Yes yes, I know mom said that 5 piercings is enough but at least if I change my mind about it, I can just take the earring out and let the hole close up on its own, no?
And then I was in Allans' Music and I bought myself a little ukulele!
I got a lot of blank looks when I told people I bought a ukulele. The next question I usually got was, "What's a ukulele?"
( Or in my mom's case when she saw it on webcam, " YOU BOUGHT A VIOLIN??????" No I didn't!! )
Well, a ukulele is a hawaiian guitar. Sort of. Its super tiny as you can see, and it only has 4 strings whereas the normal, bigger guitar has 6. It sounds different too, it sounds real tinny and high and cute. Basically it sounds like those ads you see on TV where the music is playing and the waves are rolling and girls in straw skirts and coconut bikinis sip cocktails and sway their hips. So i'm trying to learn how to play it now and it's pretty easy. So I think this should satisfy me for a while. Haha.

We all have our little outlets for stress I guess..

Don't Quit

Since I won't be in the city anytime soon to get Maltesers for a very stressed friend who is on the verge of shaving her head as a result of too many assignment and exams in a short period of time, this video is for you, Cindy!

And also for all the other people out there who happen to read my blog and is feeling like life is too hard and too full of crap to deal with, remember, God gave us rainy days so that we could appreciate the sunny days!

Enjoy.

The One Where I Turn Thirty

So I was watching this episode of Friends where they all turn thirty ( Its called The One Where They All Turn Thirty..... Like Inspector Clousseau would say: Ironic....) Haha. And I just got to thinking, what would my list of things to do before I hit 30 be?
So here goes:

1. Learn another language ( Preferably Spanish, Portugese, French or Italian)
2. Learn another instrument ( Cello! If Cindy doesn't learn that first, or the Flute)
3. Visit another country, and Australia doesn't count anymore, technically. ( Probably Europe or the States)
4. Buy myself one of those big-ass state of the art cameras and learn how to use it well
5. Own a car
6. Ok, probably find myself one of those perfect boyfriends who cooks and cleans as well cause I don't intend to. Hahahahahaha. That should take me longer than a decade to find...

I know I should probably stop posting all these random posts. Don't stop reading my blog just because life is pretty mundane for me now!!! Hahaha. You guys should come up with your lists as well! We need goals in life!

Life?

Things have been stressful lately.
Assignments to complete, exams coming up and I feel like I know nothing, people around me stressing me out.... where do I begin?
You watch enough movies and sometimes you think, since art is based on life, maybe there really are such things as happy endings. You know, the princess riding off into the sunset with her prince, or the heroine finally triumphing over all odds with everything she ever wanted in her grasp.
But I'm starting to lose faith in life and all its happy endings.
Happy endings don't happen.
You don't just breeze through uni with parties and a great social life and tons of boyfriends and top grades. You don't always meet the right people who connect with you the right way. You don't always get what you want.

Randomness... what else is new?

I spend a lot of time at work sometimes sitting around passing the time reading mags and Reader's Digest. Not all the time, but only when I'm taking care of 'special' patients who require one to one care. I love these special shifts. No need to talk to anyone, no running around like a mad woman, and no sore feet.
So I found these real funny paradoxes of famous quotes that really brightened up my shift and made my patient doubt my sanity when I smiled all to myself reading them.
Since sharing is caring, I'd like to show I care....

A journey of a thousand kilometres begins with a broken fan belt or a flat tyre.

It's always darkest before the dawn- so that's the best time to steal your neighbour's newspaper

Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you're a mile away- and you have his shoes.

The meek shall inherit the earth....... if its okay with the rest of you.

If you love someone or something, you should let it go. But if he still sits there, watching tv.... well then, you probably married him.

And some jokes:

A woman meets a genie and is allowed one wish. She takes out a map and points to several countries, " I would like peace here. here and here."
The genie looks apalled. 'What? That's impossible! I am only one genie and that is too much work for me!!! Try another wish!"
"Okay." She said. " I would like a man who loves children, cooks and clean, doesnt watch sports all day long, doesnt drink or smoke and always helps with the household chores."
The genie sighs. " Okay, let me have a look at that map again."

I am a commitment phobic.
I tried to get help for it really, I went for therapy sessions.
Well, just one session anyway. The therapist asked if I wanted to book another session and I said, 'Ooooh, You're being way too clingy."

Hahahaha. I love Reader's Digest jokes.

Phantom Of The Opera

Finally. The day we'd been awaiting for almost 5 or 6 months.
Phantom of the Opera on stage.
We bought the tics in November when we heard it was coming to Adelaide.
And was it worth it?
Words cannot even begin to describe.
Beautiful. Absolutely magnificent. Fantasic. I am running out of words here and I haven't even managed to describe half of its awesomeness.
If only I could somehow transfer all that I had seen from my brain into a video and post it here. Then you would know what I am talking about.
Perfect. Down to the last detail. The choreography, the actors, the orchestra. Even the chandelier falling from the ceiling and the gunshots and the change from old dusty modern day theatre to its former glory. Every single scene was beautiful. and the smooth transition from scene to scene, costume to costume, set to set was unbelievable.
I only managed to take that picture cause obviously this isn't some cinema in Malaysia and we weren't allowed to record or take pics while the thing was going.
Definitely two, or three, thumbs up.

I HATE

I know its wrong to hate people. I know its a real strong word to use.
But gosh. Sometimes I just HATE those bitchy people out there who think they're better than others. That they're a level above everyone and can look down on others just because they're not as smart or pretty or interesting.
I HATE bitchiness. And fakeness. What makes you think people are going to like you for being this fake, made-up bitch of a person? WHat makes you think shooting people down for being who they are makes you a better person?
Do you actually think that being a wild, drinking party-loving animal is going to lead people to believe you're cool?
So what if you're pretty? So what? Sure people will like you, and then get to know you and find out who you really are. We'll see who gets the last laugh then. We'll see. And you wonder why you don't have any real friends. Open your eyes and look in the mirror for goodness sake!
I won't let you shoot me down. I won't let you make me think you're better than me. And I absolutely WILL NOT take all this shit from you.
Sometimes people just make me so mad.
