My Birthday

It was my birthday about a week ago, and I decided to have a little pizza party in our TV room, the aim was just to eat and have as much fun as humanly possible. So I ordereed 3 enormous sized pizzas from Amigos Pizzas and got a couple of bags of chips as well, Ah Tang got the drinks, bless her.
MC lent us her Guitar Hero and Evie brought along Singstar, Taboo, UNO Stacko, Cards and UNO. Cindy and Tim started off the night with a bout of Guitar Hero. See behind them are jealous groupies trying to bash them to bits.
Then Ivy, Dane, and Ying Ing started a game of Uno STACKO, which is much more difficult than it looks. You cant just pull out any random loose piece, the piece you pull out has to be the same colour or number as the one pulled out previously. So if the piece of the same colour or number is one that's wedged very tightly, bad luck! See how intense they all are?
Oh look at that, extremely tired Guitar Hero Rocker and extremely concerned fans....
Here we have Ah Tang, reaching for more pizza with a very 'gian' face. You can almost hear her thinking, AH! Nobody's watching, lemme help myself to more pizza!!!
So Ying Ing didn't know which block to pull out anymore. Ever the good Samaritan, Ying Sze decided to help, she confidently chose one...and succeeded in being the first person of the night to pull down the entire building. Told her not to be so kepo.
Next, SINGSTAR!!!!! Greatest party game ever invented!!!! Haha, its like Karaoke but they give you marks for how in tune you sing, naturaly the person with the highest marks wins. Ivy was a bit confused when we were singing High School Musical, she didn't know which part she was saying. Its pretty obvious who lost this round.
Cindy and Tim singing Evanescene, Bring Me To Life. Just look at the expression on Tim's face. Classic! So much emotion! So intense and focused!! Just like a professional. He sang so hard he fell of his chair at the last note. Pity I don't have a picture of that. We were laughing too hard.
Pizza eater and Pizza Stealer
The expression you see on Cindy's face is what we called a Blur Guitar Hero Rocker. You know, the type that to calls herself a rocker but then has no idea of what she is doing with the guitar when the song starts. The chords start flashing on screen for her to play and she goes "Huh? What? Press Where?"

I got 2 birthday cakes this year... Mango one and a chocolate one. Both cheesecakes. I was filled up to my eyeballs with cheese that night :)
Still singing, I have no idea what MC is doing
And this one, not only professional guitar rocker, professional singer too! See her emotion, like Mariah CArey when she's singing onstage. But this one a bit 'Keh Zheng' one la. Not so genuine one, cause have to look at lyrics and follow music one. We had great fun. Especially when we sang YMCA and did the action altogether. That was the best part of the night. After that, we had a little game of Killer and Cho Tai Ti and finally retired back to our rooms.
The best thing about birthdays everyone is always waiting for but never really wants to admit:
Presents!!!! I got loads this year, of all varieties. This Spongebob and Patrick softoy was from Erica and Penny.

This huuuge chunk of chocolate was from Jojo, Mary Loh and Ying Sze... I still haven't finished them yet!!!
And, um, makeup.... I have no idea what to do with this... Eye shadow and brush bag was from Ivy while the eyeline and mascara was form Ying Ing and Dane... Still there, unopened... Haha.
This really cool picture frame was from Evie. You can move the little frames around in the big one to form a bigger picture. Really cool. I'd actually seen it around before and wanted to buy it. Lucky I didn't. XD
And that BIG surprise. I found this waiting for me in my room when I got back. A Book ( Which I already hav back home, sorry guys), 2 chocolate bars, a cup, a really nice t-shirt that says LOVE SUCKS, a happy birthday plate, a birthday card, a heart soft toy and a box of Body Shop stuff. Really random stuff but I loved it. Thanks to Cindy, Audrey, Tim and Tushig.
And finally, a bear from Jonathan.... he forgot to take the price tag off wahahahahahaha!!!!!!!
I had a great night. Thanks guys for making it great and for everything. Love you guys.

The Truth Behind Nursery Rhymes

We had English class the other day and our teacher John told us about THE TRUTH BEHIND NURSERY RHYMES!!!!
I don't think they were quite the innocent meaningless songs and rhymes we thought they were as kids!
So anyway, Baa Baa Black Sheep:
Now we all know that Black Sheep means troublemaker, usually the only troublemaker in a particular group. In the song, there is a line that goes "One for the master, one for the dame and one for the little boy who lives down the lane"
Now see. The "master" here actually really refers to the King, and the "dame" refers to the Church, the "little boy" here is actually the people. Apparently in i-dunno-which-century England, the taxes were really high. The people had to pay taxes to the King and the church, this left them with only one-third of their money for themselves! Thus, the line "One for the little boy who lives down the lane"
So that's how the song Baa Baa Black Sheep really came about. A song about taxes!!
And I thought it was just about some poor black sheep about to get sheared for his wool and sold off to make winter cloaks or something.
Next, Humpty Dumpty:
Once upon a time in this little European country, there was this King/General called Humphrey or something that sounds like that anyway. Maybe it was Humpity. I'm not sure. Details are a little vague on this one, I might have drifted off a bit during this story..
So this guy was stupid as. There was a war going on between his neighbouring countries. France and some other country I cant remember. What this guy does is he agrees to help BOTH countries. Things enfolds and in the end, this guy loses everything, looking like the biggest fool in the world. Thus, the song: Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall ( The stupid guy was siding both sides, so he was metaphorically 'sitting on a wall') Humpty Dumpty had a great fall ( The guy lost everything he had) All the Kings horses and all the kings men, couldnt put Humpty together again ( Even though his soldiers and the cavalry tried to save him, it was all too late) See? All makes sense!!! Haha, and get this, apparently this King had an egg-shaped head, and that's why we see Humpty Dumpty usually illustrated as an egg, kids!

Finally, Sleeping Beauty.
When it was first written, Sleeping Beauty was meant for adults, not some romantic and happy fairy tale as portrayed by Disney.
There was a war in Europe between 2 countries that lasted a hundred years ( Sleeping Beauty slept for a hundred years) and because of that war, the 2 countries were shut out from the outside world, causing them to stay in their time while the outside world slowly changed and became more modern ( When Sleeping Beauty fell asleep, the whole country slept with her for a hundred years) This story was to show just how the war caused the 2 countries to stop growing while everything in the outside world was changing and growing.

Well, now that I've explained everything and probably destroyed most people's innocent notions of these fairy tale, I'll take my leave for now.

How Raisins Become

When I was young, my aunt wrote and illustrated a story about Gavin the Grape. Now, Gavin the Grape was a young adventurous grape who wanted nothing more than to go out and see the world. So one day, he did precisely that. He rolled off and started his journey. Anyway, to cut a not-so-long story short, Gavin ended up getting all dehydrated and sunburnt and became a raisin!

I remember that was where I found out that raisins were actually sunburnt grapes..

So I was eating Christina's grapes one day when I decided to make my own raisins!

Below are pictures of week to week accounts of my grape. A picture of me and Mr. Soon-to-be-raisin-grape
