And He Does It!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here he is....
Hero of the Beijing Olympic Games 2008

And he most definitely deserves that title. 8 Gold Medals!!!! 8!!!!!
And not only gold medals... All except one in world record time!!!! And the one that WASNT in world record time, was an olympic record....
Could this guy be anymore awesome?????
He totally rocks!!!!
ANd he has now officially broken Mark Spitz's record of 7 golds in a single games. And is also the first person to get 14 Olympic golds in his career so far...I don;t think anyone will be breaking THAT record for a while yet... And he's only 23.... Amazing, simply amazing.... I cant get over how amazing he is, an absolute freak of nature...

This is Grant Hackett...

Australian's swim team captain.... 28 years old. Was going for a record as well, to be the first man to win 3 consecutive gold medals in the 1500m freestyle... He missed out by just a second today...

I sat there watching him lead and un-lead lap after lap for 30 laps!!!!

Then felt my heart sink when all of a sudden out of nowhere this Tunisian guy shoots up in lane 6 or 7 and touches the wall a second ahead of Hackett... Poor guy was so so so dejected when he came up, my friend, a great fan of his was so sad she cried...

Disappointing... But then again, he is rather advanced in his years for a swimmer...

Oh well, a silver's ultimately still better than no medal at all, and he DID swim a very good race after all...

Swimming's over... and i guess from this point onwards my olympic fever will probably die down a bit until the next Olympics....

I hope Michael Phelps will be going for 9 golds the next one wakakakak :)

A Medal for MALAYSIA!!!!!!!!

Have you heard? Have you heard? Have you heard????
Have you have you have you?????????
Malaysia's got a medal!!!! Finally! After the disappointments in the last olympics, we have a medal!!! ANd a possibility of a GOLD!!!!
Go Lee Chong Wei!!!!
Beat the pants off that chinese dude!!!!!!!!!
Get Malaysia's first gold and then reap the incentives the governmnt has to give!!!!
And in the pool........
MICHAEL PHELPS JUST WON HIS SEVENTH GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine this, he was in the seventh place when they were turning at the wall for 100m butterfly.... then he caught up so fast and so so so much!!!!! ANd in the end won the silver medallist by just 0.01 secs!!!! Imagine that!!!! A hundredth of a second win!!!! my heart nearly jumped outta my throat... And now he's gtting that 1 million Speedo promised to give him if he got 7 golds!!! Whew. He is SERIOUSLY my hero.!!!!
Gonna get his eighth and final gold tomorrow!!! I hope...

Olympic Fever

I've caught the Olympic Fever.
Its probably gonna last a little more than two weeks.... then after that I'll probably be spending less time in the freezing TV room downstairs, wrapped up in layers and shivering, refusing to leave until the last event.
I'm watching Australian TV, so naturally, I only get to watch live broadcasts of the events Australian athletes excel in.... Thank goodness one of them is swimming.
If there wasnt swimming I would have bashed the TV in after sitting through hours and hours of rowing, esquestrains, judo, beach volleyball... etc etc... And of course, I wont be able to watch any Malaysian athletes perform as well ( I'm not sure if i want to) as the only thing we're good at is badminton, and Australian's female badminton player lost on the first day of the games..
Oh well.... So I've been watching swimming, my absolute favourite, for the past few days.. Haven't had classes yet so I havent missed a single event, and boy have there been some jaw-dropping and history-making performances in the Water Cube this past few days...

First of all, my swimming hero, Michael Phelps from the States. On a quest for 8 golds, hoping to break the record of 7 golds in a single game previously held by fellow States retired swimmer Mark Spitz. He failed to do that the last olympics when he lost a gold to Ian THorpe in the 200m freestyle and one of the relays..Well, Phelps dived into the challenge and is making waves at the pool first by winning AND breaking the World Record for 400 Individual Medley, then breaking the WR n getting his 2nd gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay ( one of the greatest races I've seen since watching the 'RAce of the century" featuring Thorpe, Hoogenband and Phelps in the Athens 2004 Olympics) and finally today, winning the 200m freestyle and breaking the WR as well, making him one of the few Americans to win this event ever in history. In every one of his individual races, he beats everybody at least a full body length, and that is a LOT, considering how tall he is. After every start, every turn, Phelps always comes out way ahead of other swimmers.... So yeah, I have to say, this guy is my ultimate favourite when it comes to athletes. He's a superfreak, I;ve never seen anyone like him... its like he's got super water powers or something...
Another defining moment in the Games when 20-year-old Stephanie Rice from Australia won and broke the WR for the 400m Individual Medley... She won Australia's first gold in this Olympics and also Australia's 400th medal since their first medal in their first ever Olympic games. Rice powered through the whole 400m like the champ that she was and won it 2 nearly 2 seconds ahead of world record time.
Libby Trickett- Winning the 100m Butterfly. Trickett has always been touted as one of Australia's best female swimmers, but has never been able to perform well at the Olympics. Well, she finally got the gold she had been fighting for and that had eluded her for so long yesterday. Nearly breaking the world record as well. Wonderful swim.

I suppose all this action might have made up a leeetle bit for me missing out on the Opening Ceremony.... Major bummer... GOtta watch that on Youtube, everyone's telling me how awesome it was...

What a feeling it must be to win an Olympic medal. To look at that board and see your name on it, knowing all your hard work finally paid off, to know that you won a medal for your country, to stand on the podium and hear your national anthem being played and your flag raised as your family and fellow countrymen look on with pride and joy for you. What a feeling it must be. And only so few get to experience it...

Oh well. Gotta get back to the events now. Here's to the Olympics and many more surprises and record-breaking and glory to come.

Happy Birthday Sis!!!!

Today's my sister's birthday. So I do believe that earns her a mention on my blog....
She was born 15 years ago on this very day, a squalling, red-faced alien ready to take on the world with both fists up.
I'd been an only child for 4 years, so I guess I had mixed feelings about another kid coming to invade on my space and cramp my style. But I do recall most of them were excitement.. I was finally getting my very own baby sister!!!!
I remember very clearly when Ivory came home. Just a sweet little thing sleeping peacefully in my mother's arms, swaddled in a blue blanket......... who knew she'd grow up to be such a terror XD
My sister was the biggest crybaby ever! (I mean that literally) I always remember her screaming till her face turned red... I probably have her mixed up with some other baby but wth... haha...
We weren't always the best of friends, what with me being constantly overly critical of her and stingy with stuff and her being stubborn with me and always wanting to borrow my stuff ;P
In fact, I believe there were even a few time when we had to resort to hitting and slapping and pinching over the silliest stuff like what TV channel to watch and who eats the last piece of mango ( None of us wanted it, seeing as how whoever had the last piece had to wash the plate haha)
But after everything, she's still my baby sister, and I love her, for all her flaws and virtues, nothing changes that, nothing ever will.
SO have a great day sis.
You're one year older now, one year wiser
I hope you're who you want to be now and that you're happy
Here's another birthday wish from your older sister.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having our fun with cameras. I believe this was takn by the very first digital camera my dad bought. The one I;m using now. You can pull the screen up and turn it 180 degrees to take self-potrait... believe me, w made use of that quite a lot...
Still that same camera I assume. Of course, you can see very obviously from this picture that I'm the pretty one............ *manic laughter*
New Year's Eve. Drinking sparkling juice at home after steamboat... There is no time like CHinese New Year when we get to eat and play to our heart's content.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
