What If?

How would you like to just one day, take a ride with me?

We'll jump in the car with nothing but the clothes on our backs

And we'll just drive anywhere we want to,

Anywhere the road takes us, any direction the wind blows.

We could drive all the way up the coast,

Feel the salty, sea breeze loosen our hair,

Feel the warmth of the morning sun on our faces,

Hear the soothing crashes of the waves against the shore

We could take a drive down one of those windy lanes that never seem to go nowhere

Just drive past green, green pastures and vast, rolling hills

Past horses drinking from streams, tails swishing contentedly

Past ancient buildings that could have been castles, homes to warlords and princesses

We could try battling with the city traffic, all fighting to survive in cruel civilization

Hear the horns and the beeps and the curses of the impatient and the rude

See the colours of the grafitti on walls and the people bustling along the street

No one has time for anyone else, as they go along their way

Strangely isolated and alone in a place filled with people

What if, you and I, just take a drive on a sunny, clear day
And never came back?

We could travel far away, away from all the fear, hate, anger

Away from all the worries, the stress, the deadlines

Away from all familarities, away from all comfort zones

And just start anew, start afresh, start over

What if, you and I, just spend the rest of our lives together?

Just the two of us, holding hands, laughing together for the rest of our lives.

Just the two of us, forever and ever

Just the two of us, till the end of time.

What if I offered you all of this?

And I gave you my hand?
