Placement

Whew!! finally finished my first week of worksite placement. i got the early shift this week which meant i had to drag myself outta bed and into the cold, cold morning to get to my nursing home at 7 to start work ( without pay, i should add... they say its just for experience but personally i think they should pay us for that experience!!!) my shift goes on till 3.30 in the afternoon.. so its easy to imagine how close i am to collapsing after i'm done...
well, being a carer isn't bad. surprisingly, the old people are really nice sometimes and real funny. especially those with dementia. they just do and say things that make me wanna sit on the floor and just laugh till my shift ends....... never happened though..... all sorts of things happen in the nursing home.. an old man walked into another female resident's room completely naked cause he was real confused and thought he was in his room...you've got some who refuses to shower and shout all kinds of stuff and swear and curse and bite... if u were to walk pass certain rooms when we're showering residents, words like f***ing b*****d!! or s** of a b***h!!! are normal... haha...
i suppose i started off with a rather negative opinion of this job. but now i think its not so bad and rather interesting... i might be starting to enjoy it.. and next week i;ll be starting afternoon shifts.. THANK GOODNESS!!! i don't have to wake up at 5 every morning then...

gave us all a bit of a shock... sickening....

we then went on to hahndorf village.. i had a baguette in this cute little german village and a trawberry spider... i was so full i couldnt walk after that....

took pics with this koala.. it was so lazy it couldnt even open its eyes to look at the camera for me... but never mind.. NOW i can prove i went to australia!!

and then i spotted 2 mama kangaroos staring!!! i cant figure out if their impressed or amused or just disgusted though...

went to cleland wildlife park... I fed kangaroos!!!! they liked me~

part of my cert 3 is where we go to old people's places so we learn how to interact with them and communicate and blah blah blah.. so we went to this place called the aldgate's senior centre where we spent our day with the old folks.. surprisingly, it was great fun..

trying to be funny.... and trying to look like film stars.. and before anyone comments, i know we failed :)

first falls.. am i looking surprised enough that i reached in one piece???

went to morialta park with friends.. its right next to our school/ hostel... wanted to get to the third falls... only managed the first two... we knew our limits and the fact that we could suffer from asthma attacks if we climbed any further so we stopped as neither of us knew any first aid *grin*

we had senior first aid courses for 3 whole days.. they gave us these plastic thingys to put over the dummy's mouth for CPR... it was fun i think... but those plastic thingys look sorta weird and tastes funny too haha...

My friend got this from the teddy bear shop in Rundle street... cost her more than a hundred aus dollars.... its huge eh?? hehe

okay.. i've got a blog...now, what the hell do i do with it??? i mean, does anyone even bother to read these stuff anyway?? oh well..
